WASHINGTON — Senator Cory Booker is now married to Alexis Lewis.
Booker, alongside Lewis who serves as a director at Brasa Capital Management, commemorated their marriage in two separate events, spaced five days apart, each held in a location meaningful to them.
Their journey began on Monday, November 24, at the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey in Newark, a city integral to Booker’s political ventures. As reported by the New York Times, the intimate ceremony included their parents as witnesses to their vows.
The celebrations continued on Saturday, November 29, in Washington, D.C., the hometown of Lewis, where they once more gathered with family and friends to mark the occasion.
Booker and Lewis announced the news of their wedding Sunday, sharing matching Instagram posts featuring photos from both ceremonies.
“Overflowing with gratitude. We said ‘I do’ in two places that shaped us — Cory’s beloved Newark and Alexis’s hometown of Washington, D.C. — first at the courthouse, then with our families,” they wrote. “Hearts full and so grateful.”
The New Jersey Democrat first announced their engagement in September, calling Lewis “one of the greatest unearned blessings of my life” in a social media post that included photos of their tropical proposal. “She has transformed me, helping me to ground and center my inner life, and discover the joys of building a nurturing home with someone you love.”
In October, on the “I’ve Had It podcast,” Booker said he was eager to get married, adding, “We’re going to do it before the end of the year, quick.”
Booker previously shared that the pair met through friends and had been together about a year and a half before going public with their relationship.
