Kylian Mbappé has reached a remarkable milestone at Real Madrid, joining the illustrious company of Cristiano Ronaldo as the only players in the club’s storied history to score more than 53 goals in a single calendar year.
This achievement was realized during Real Madrid’s La Liga match against Girona on Sunday. Under the guidance of Xabi Alonso, the team was feeling the heat after a series of lackluster performances.
In the first half, Real Madrid found themselves on the back foot when Azzedine Ounahi struck with a precise shot, giving Girona the lead.
Mbappé delivers at a critical moment
However, the tide turned in the second half when Vinícius Jr. won a penalty. Mbappé stepped up to the spot with confidence, converting the penalty to equalize and shift the momentum in favor of the visiting team.
But when Vinícius Jr. earned a second-half penalty, Mbappé assumed responsibility, converting confidently to level the score and tilt momentum back toward the visitors.
