In a startling incident on Saturday in Sydney, New South Wales, a bouncy castle was swept away by strong winds, resulting in injuries to four children, as reported by various Australian media.

The inflatable structure became airborne after a powerful gust disconnected it from its moorings in southwestern Sydney. It soared approximately 23 feet into the air before landing beyond a neighboring fence, according to People magazine.

At the time of the incident, five children were playing inside the bouncy castle. Out of these, four boys, aged between 9 and 13, were transported to the hospital with injuries that were thankfully not life-threatening, as reported by 7 News.

According to News.com.au, the boys sustained injuries to their arms, backs, and shoulders. Fortunately, all of them are currently in stable condition.

Injuries were to the children’s arms, back and shoulders, according to News.com.au. All the children are in stable condition.

A spokesperson from the jumping castle company said the owners told him there was a “massive wind” caused by a “freak tornado,” according to The Daily Telegraph.

Along with the bouncy castle being blown away, the spokesperson said the wind also “ripped away” a generator.

Wind gusts of up to 45mph had been recorded in nearby Canterbury, and 55mph at Sydney Airport, according to 9 News.

The incident is under investigation by SafeWork New South Wales, a workplace health and safety regulator, according to the Australian Broadcast Company.
