Authorities are searching for an inmate considered “armed and dangerous” after he made a daring escape from an Atlanta hospital early Monday morning.
Timothy Shane, the fugitive in question, was in the custody of the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office when he fled Grady Memorial Hospital, where he had been taken for a medical checkup following a reported suicide attempt.
Shane was transported to the hospital around 8 p.m. on Sunday night by National Emergency Medical Services, accompanied by sheriff’s deputies. However, the situation took a dramatic turn when he managed to escape his deputy escort around 1:20 a.m. on Monday.
In the ensuing chaos, a nearby SUV was reported stolen, along with a Glock handgun that was inside. Authorities suspect that Shane initially escaped the hospital on foot before coming across the parked SUV, which he then used to flee further. Unfortunately, he crashed the vehicle but managed to continue his escape on foot, potentially armed with the stolen handgun.

As the search for Shane continues, the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office remains on high alert, urging the public to stay vigilant and report any sightings of the suspect, who disappeared from Grady Memorial Hospital on December 1, 2025.
The sheriff’s office said Shane has a history of fleeing and a record that includes felony drug and weapons charges. Authorities warn he should be considered “armed and dangerous.”
Shane is described as a White male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a buzz-style haircut. He was last seen wearing a blue hospital gown and no shoes.

Grady Memorial Hospital told Fox News Digital that its policy requires custodial law enforcement agencies to maintain “one-to-one oversight” of inmates receiving treatment at the hospital at all times.

“Our agency along with other assisting agencies have multiple units in the area searching for inmate Shane,” the office said.
The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office told Fox News Digital that the department had no new developments as of Monday afternoon.
