While renovating a house in Washington State, contractors uncovered a case containing live hand grenades similar to those used by the military, which were filled with TNT. This prompted the arrival of a bomb squad and led to the temporary closure of a nearby road, officials reported on Monday.

The alarming find occurred at a residence in Ollala, a tranquil area within Kitsap County, as noted by the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon discovery, the workers immediately contacted the homeowners, who were not residing at the property during the renovation process. The homeowners subsequently alerted emergency services by dialing 911, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies arrived at the scene to assess the situation and then informed state bomb technicians. For safety reasons, the road adjacent to the home was briefly shut down.
