Authorities in Texas are actively searching for an elderly couple who vanished while traveling home after celebrating Thanksgiving with their family.

The Panhandle Police Department reports that Linda and Gary Lightfoot, aged 81 and 82, departed from their relatives’ residence around 3 p.m. However, they never reached their destination in Lubbock, which lies approximately 150 miles away.

On Sunday, the Texas Department of Public Safety issued a Silver Alert to aid in locating the couple.

Panhandle Police Chief Sace Hardman shared on Monday that the Lightfoots’ 2024 Toyota Camry, bearing Texas license plates TWN0925, was allegedly seen in New Mexico on Friday. Despite this potential lead, authorities were unable to track down the vehicle following the report, as detailed by KIAH.

The Aware Foundation highlighted in their alert that the couple lacks a cell phone or any traceable device, and Gary Lightfoot requires oxygen for his health.

Anyone with information should contact the Carson County Sheriff’s Office at 806-537-3511.
