Weird Questions We Really Want Stranger Things To Answer

The first half of “Stranger Things” Season 5 has wrapped up, yet numerous questions continue to swirl around the series. Whether or not these mysteries will be resolved by the finale remains uncertain, but they certainly leave fans curious. For those eager to delve into these intriguing questions, click the video above for a deeper look into the enigmas surrounding “Stranger Things.”

One puzzling aspect is the show’s timeline. Although “Stranger Things” has consistently adhered to its chronological framework, it’s hard to believe that only four years have elapsed since Will Byers (played by Noah Schnapp) was abducted in Season 1. Season 5 confirms that Will was taken by Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) in November 1983, with the latest events unfolding in November 1987. Considering the extensive character development over the seasons and the fact that a decade has passed in real time since the series premiered, the timeline feels surprisingly short.

This isn’t the only plot inconsistency catching viewers’ attention. Recall Season 3, when the series intertwined a Cold War-era Russian espionage storyline with the unveiling of Starcourt Mall. The question lingers: Why would the Soviet Union choose to establish a significant intelligence base beneath a suburban mall in America? Wouldn’t it have sufficed to simply open a portal to the Upside Down within the mall? Our questions don’t end there.

Other perplexing elements within “Stranger Things” persist, including the selective significance of character deaths. The series dedicates significant screen time to mourning certain characters, such as Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn), yet largely overlooks the violent deaths of numerous Hawkins residents. This oversight is particularly glaring in Season 3 when the Mind Flayer consumes a large number of Hawkins citizens, yet the town seemingly resumes normalcy without much fuss.

Additionally, the show has left fans wondering about one minor yet intriguing detail: each character’s Dungeons and Dragons class. While viewers can make educated guesses based on the characters’ alignments in the game, the series has yet to explicitly define the classes for most of the main characters.

But really, what is everyone’s D&D class?

There are plenty of other random “Stranger Things”-related questions to be considered, including a very serious one that hasn’t been answered yet: why is the show so picky about which deaths matter and motivate its characters? The series spends entire episodes mourning the loss of certain figures — like Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) — but massive swaths of background Hawkins residents die violently throughout the course of the show and no one raises a protest. This is particularly noticable when the Mind Flayer absorbs a whole bunch of Hawkins citizens during Season 3 but in the aftermath the town gets on with business as usual.

Here’s something else that the show has never bothered to answer — what’s every character’s Dungeons and Dragons class? While it’s possible to speculate on what the characters would play based upon their Dungeons and Dragons alignments, the show has not been definitive on the topic outside of naming classes for the majority of the show’s main kids.

Finally, we all know Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink) loves Kate Bush. Her favorite song is “Running Up that Hill” from Bush’s album “Hounds of Love.” While that song provides one of the best uses of music in “Stranger Things,” it’s hard not to notice that Max never listens to any other tunes on the album.  Even weirder, no one else in the show ever plays any other part of the tape, either. It’s obviously a real-world licensing issue, but in the body of the series it makes little sense. Want to delve even deeper into some dangling “Stranger Things” queries?
