Authorities in Georgia are on the lookout for a man accused of jumping bail while facing charges of raping an 8-year-old girl back in 2021.
According to officials in DeKalb County, a warrant has been issued for the arrest of 53-year-old Travis Levy, who failed to attend a scheduled plea hearing in February. At the time of the alleged assault, Levy was on parole but managed to post bail in April 2022 after being charged with rape, child molestation, and cruelty to children.
Despite objections from prosecutors, court documents reveal that Levy was released on a $60,000 bond.
Prior to missing the February court date, Levy reportedly visited the victim’s school and paid another student to obtain information on her location.
Reports from WAGA indicate that Levy is related to the victim. Her family is particularly worried due to Levy’s job in HVAC, which involves entering people’s homes.
“The only reason he got a bond is because he wasn’t indicted in time due to Covid,” one of the victim’s family members told the news outlet.
The victim’s family said they are taking additional precautions as Levy’s whereabouts remain unknown.
The victim’s relative also told WAGA, “For him to be caught. I could just … the Christmas that we will have. It will be amazing. It will be amazing.”
