In a chilling turn of events, an Arizona woman’s declaration of “Today is my independence day” took a sinister twist when she allegedly attempted to murder her boyfriend by slashing his throat. The incident unfolded last Thursday night and has shocked the local community.
The woman in question, 52-year-old Tamala Rudeseal, made the dramatic decision to call 911 herself shortly after 8 p.m., confessing to the dispatcher that she had tried to take her boyfriend’s life. This startling revelation was reported by KTVK, citing court documents that shed light on the harrowing episode.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the boyfriend suffering from a severe laceration that extended from his left ear to the center of his throat. The gravity of his injuries necessitated immediate medical attention, prompting his swift transport to the hospital. Meanwhile, Rudeseal was detained, and a large folding hunting knife was retrieved from the scene, serving as a grim testament to the night’s events.
Upon investigation, detectives learned from the victim that Rudeseal, his partner of 11 years, had been experiencing a bout of depression, exacerbated by the holiday season. The couple had reportedly engaged in an argument earlier that day, adding tension to an already fraught situation.
The victim recounted that he was asleep when the attack occurred. Waking up in agony, he initially believed his life was in imminent danger. In a desperate bid to survive, he managed to stem the bleeding with his shirt until emergency responders arrived. This harrowing account paints a picture of a relationship that spiraled into violence with tragic consequences.
Rudeseal told detectives that she had tried to kill the man.
“I hope he is dead,” she allegedly said. “It’d be a favor to me, his wife, and his children.”
Rudeseal has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault. She’s being held on a $1 million bond.
