Amidst the hectic ATP calendar, Taylor Fritz and Morgan Riddle both enjoy a large amount of travel. In an interview with Spotlight, Riddle revealed that the couple’s favorite tournament to go to is the Japan Open Tennis Championships, which takes place in Tokyo. Talking about their love for the city, Riddle said,

“We love Tokyo. The food, shopping, people, and tournament are all amazing. As I mentioned, we love anime, so we geek out and find spots that have shown up in our favorite shows. Once, we ventured out just to find a random KFC that was in a Jujutsu Kaisen episode.”

In the same interview, Riddle also spoke about the pros and cons of the ATP Tour. Reflecting on the plus points of travelling with her boyfriend, she said,

“The friendship, the fun, the weird little routines we’ve built. It’s a stressful lifestyle, but having a best friend to navigate it with makes it a lot more grounding.”

She then revealed that travelling for tennis can also be ‘boring’, explaining,

“It can be painfully boring. Waiting in hotel rooms, waiting for rain delays, waiting for matches to start. There is excessive downtime.”

At the 2025 Japan Open Tennis Championships, Taylor Fritz’s love for Tokyo was on full display as he delivered some incredible performances at the ATP 500. The American made it to the finals of the event before going down against Carlos Alcaraz.
