This week’s installment of The Kardashians takes a somber turn as Kim Kardashian relives the traumatic experience of preparing to testify about the 2016 robbery in Paris that left a lasting impact on her life.

The episode begins with a detailed recounting of that terrifying night when Kardashian was assaulted by masked individuals posing as police officers. They forcibly entered her hotel room, bound her, and held her at gunpoint before making away with over $6 million worth of jewelry, including a $4 million diamond ring.

Kardashian recounts how the intruders taped her mouth and eyes shut, tying her hands and feet. Wearing only a robe, she feared the worst, suspecting she might be raped, but instead, the thieves departed with her possessions.

In a candid confessional, Kardashian addresses the conspiracy theories that suggested she orchestrated the incident for her reality TV series, then called Keeping Up with the Kardashians. She reveals that even Kanye West, her husband at the time, accused her of staging the robbery in front of others.

“Howard Stern was famously mocking it all the time, claiming I was sick and that it was a joke I concocted,” Kardashian recalls, visibly emotional. “He was so adamant about it. I thought, how can you be so sure? People believe in you. That has always stuck with me.”

“Even my ex-husband had said, ‘And you faked your robbery for a TV show.’ [He] said that in front of all these people,” she continues. “That was so a knife to my heart. Just to think that someone wouldn’t believe you that’s so close to you, that should know you, that should know how much that affected your life, it just really bothered me.”

Per Kardashian, getting to testify in court in front of the men who traumatized her was enough to debunk the outlandish rumors.

“To finally be able to go to trial and face these people and hear their accounts and apologies, I’m like, ‘See guys, it was real,’” she says. “I’m happy it’s over.”

Eight of the 10 men put on trial were ultimately found guilty, and while they were handed three to eight-year sentences, they will not return to prison due to time served.

New episodes of The Kardashians air every Thursday on Hulu.
