Kate Middleton showcased a “clever” technique to ensure her grand tiara remained in place during a recent state banquet at Windsor Castle.

A photograph capturing the back of the Princess of Wales’ head revealed that she had cleverly knotted her hair to anchor the tiara securely. This ingenious method kept her dazzling headpiece steady as she entertained German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife, Elke Büdenbender, during their official visit.

The princess’s admirers flocked to social media on Wednesday evening, expressing their admiration for Middleton’s elegant appearance and the skills of her hairstylist.

One post on X praised, “I always wonder how these tiaras stay perfectly positioned on the royal ladies, especially larger ones like Catherine wore tonight.”

Another fan commented on X, “Thanks for sharing the view from the back and the clever way the tiara was secured with her hair. It’s an incredibly stunning piece.”

“Her hairdresser works magic,” another replied. “I love when they do an up do for [her royal highness] Catherine.”

A third netizen added: “It’s fascinating how flawlessly they secure these grand tiaras. Catherine’s elegant hair knot tonight was a masterclass — perfectly holding that stunning heirloom in place.”

On Wednesday night, Middleton made a splash when she attended the regal white-tie banquet wearing Queen Victoria’s Oriental Circlet.

According to longtime royal jewelers, Garrard, the tiara was “crafted for Queen Victoria in 1853 under the direction of her beloved husband and consort, Prince Albert.”

“The Oriental Circlet was originally set with a collection of opals, one of Albert’s favourite gemstones, and 2,600 diamonds. Later, believing that opals were unlucky, Queen Alexandra replaced them with rubies.”

The outing marks the first time the heirloom has been worn in public in 20 years.

The Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth have previously worn the crown. Though the late Queen, who died on Sep. 8, 2022, wore it only once during her reign, on a 2005 trip to Malta.

The princess completed her royal look with a custom glittering blue cape gown by British designer Jenny Packham, which she paired with silver Gianvito Rossi Rania pumps in silver-silk organza ($2,695).

She accessorized with the Bespoke Maud Clutch in black satin from Anya Hindmarch ($775) and chandelier diamond earrings that originally belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth.

For a final touch, she also wore the Royal Family Order and the Royal Victorian Order sash and star.
