The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office (SJSO) has issued a public advisory urging residents to steer clear of US-1 near Abbots Way. This alert follows the escape of a potentially dangerous individual during a traffic stop.
In St. Johns County, Florida, authorities are actively searching for a “possibly violent” suspect who managed to evade deputies during a traffic stop. The incident has prompted warnings for the public to avoid the vicinity of US-1 near Abbotts Way.
On the afternoon of Thursday, December 4, the suspect bolted from a traffic stop on I-95 near International Golf Parkway, according to SJSO.
During the ensuing chase, after an attempted pit maneuver, the suspect abandoned the vehicle, fled on foot, commandeered a van, and sped away along International Golf Parkway towards US-1. The suspect eventually abandoned the vehicle near Abbots Way.
The sheriff’s office describes the situation as “active” and advises locals to steer clear of the area for their safety.
