SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Calvary Day’s football team stands on the brink of making it to the state finals for the first time since 2013, needing just one more victory to secure their spot.

With a current streak of seven consecutive wins, the Cavaliers are dominating their opponents, boasting an impressive average winning margin of 43 points during this period. This commanding performance highlights their formidable form as they charge through the playoffs.

In his inaugural season as head coach, Jason Cameron is steering the team towards the finals. Cameron is no novice to deep playoff runs, having previously guided Jenkins to the state semifinals in 2019. His experience is proving vital as the team progresses.

Facing a challenging matchup against Fellowship Christian, who recently defeated Savannah Christian, Cameron acknowledges the task ahead. “They have two exceptional quarterbacks,” he noted. “Players number one and three are outstanding athletes. With one heading to Duke and the other to Georgia Southern, they’re remarkable talents. Our focus must be on collective tackling; we need to gang tackle effectively to bring them down consistently.”

“They got two of [dynamic quarterbacks] too,” Cameron said. “[Numbers] one and three are dynamic athletes. They’re awesome. I think the best part of it is one’s going to Duke and one’s going to Georgia Southern. Great athletes. We have to tackle. We can’t have one person to tackle and we have to gang tackle and put them on the ground all the time.”

“You have to be patient,” quarterback James Mobley said. “Gotta take what they give you. Also, you can’t turn the ball over against good teams like that that can manage the ball. You can’t turn the ball over. Got to make those plays when they’re there. Just be the leader and play some really good football and just lead my team to win.”

The Private Class state semifinal between Fellowship Christian will kick off Friday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m.
