JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) — A festive Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday marked a decade since the Jonesborough Senior Center established itself on East Main Street.
Originally moving to this larger venue in 2015 to accommodate its growing membership, the center has expanded from its initial 450 members to over 2,400 today. The facility spans 30,000 square feet and was bustling with activity in 2025, as members participated in more than 35,000 events.
In celebration of the new facility’s 10th anniversary, the center hosted a reception followed by its traditional Tree Lighting Ceremony. Lincoln Park came alive with the glow of over 40 Christmas trees, each uniquely decorated by local businesses and organizations from Jonesborough.
The evening wrapped up with festive cheer, featuring Christmas carolers, steaming cups of hot chocolate, s’mores, and the opportunity for guests to snap photos with Santa Claus.
The event was expertly emceed by Kasey Marler from News Channel 11.
