The sirens are blaring once again for fans of the iconic comedy series as Searchlight Pictures announces the release date for Super Troopers 3. Scheduled to hit theaters on August 7, 2026, the film aims to capture the summer blockbuster audience with its trademark humor and hijinks.

This third installment in the Super Troopers series will face stiff competition during its opening weekend, clashing with Universal’s comedy One Night Only, directed by Will Gluck, and an as-yet-untitled project from New Line Cinema. However, the fearless Broken Lizard team is more than ready to rev up their patrol cars and meet the challenge head-on.

Returning to direct and reprise his role as Thorny, Jay Chandrasekhar will join original cast members Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske, who will once again step into the shoes of Farva, Mac, Foster, and Rabbit. The franchise also welcomes new additions to its comedic lineup: Oscar winner Nat Faxon takes on the role of Captain Todd Markowski, Chace Crawford joins as Baker Buchanan, and Andrew Dismukes signs on as Coy Burns. The ensemble cast is further enriched by the talents of Hannah Simone, Iqbal Theba, Sakina Jaffrey, Jon Rudnitsky, and Lisa Gilroy. As for the storyline, details remain as elusive as a speeding motorist fleeing a traffic stop.

The original Super Troopers made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival in 2001 and was subsequently acquired by Fox Searchlight. It went on to win the Audience Award at SXSW, cementing its status as a cult comedy classic. Its 2018 sequel continued the legacy, with both films being crafted by the entire Broken Lizard team. Together, they generated $55 million globally on a modest combined budget of less than $15 million—a remarkable feat for a team of misfit troopers causing chaos on the highways.

In related movie news from Disney, it was revealed today that the studio plans to re-release the Russo Brothers’ blockbuster Avengers: Endgame—the second highest-grossing movie of all time—in theaters on September 25, 2026. This re-release sets the stage for the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday, slated for a December 18 debut.
