In response to recent bandit attacks in parts of Kano State, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf orchestrated a significant prayer gathering at the Government House on Saturday, December 6. The event featured 4,444 Qur’an reciters who came together to seek divine intervention.

This prayer session saw a convergence of Islamic scholars, traditional leaders, senior government officials, and community representatives. Among the attendees was Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, along with other notable dignitaries.

The gathering was specifically organized to address the increasing insecurity within the Kano North senatorial district. This area recently witnessed a brutal raid where bandits kidnapped at least 15 residents and tragically killed a woman.

Governor Yusuf emphasized that the issue of insecurity transcends political lines and called for a united front to tackle this pressing challenge.

“Insecurity knows no political boundary or party line; it impacts us all,” he stated. “Therefore, it’s imperative that we all unite to combat this threat and ensure the safety of Kano.”

He noted that his administration has been strengthening support for security agencies through improved logistics, collaboration, and coordinated responses to emerging threats.

According to him, the state government will continue working closely with security operatives to safeguard lives and property.

Governor Yusuf emphasized that mass prayer sessions serve as a spiritual complement to physical security measures, urging citizens to support both approaches.

Prominent Islamic clerics including Sheikh Tijjani Bala Kalarawi, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Sani Ashir, Sheikh Adam Abba Koki, Sheikh Nasir Kabara, Sheikh Abdullahi Uwaisu Madabo, Sheikh Dr. Mujtaba Abdulkadir Bauchi, and Gwani Lawi Gwani Dankillori highlighted the power of prayer in addressing insecurity.

With bandit attacks on the rise, Kano’s combination of mass prayers and strengthened security efforts appears to be the state’s strategic path toward restoring peace and stability.
