ATLANTA — The Atlanta Falcons faced yet another disappointing defeat, marking their eighth loss in the last nine games. On Sunday, December 7, they were overpowered by the Seattle Seahawks, falling 37-9 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The turning point of the game came during the third quarter.

With the score level at 6, Seattle electrified the stadium by returning the kickoff for the second half a full 100 yards for a touchdown, pushing them ahead to 13-6.

Shortly after, things took a turn for the worse for Atlanta. Running back Bijan Robinson lost the ball in a fumble while in the red zone. Seattle capitalized on this mistake, and after an eight-play drive, Sam Darnold connected on a 28-yard touchdown pass, increasing their lead to 20-6.

Atlanta’s troubles compounded in the next series. A pass from Kirk Cousins was intercepted after it ricocheted between players. This turnover led to another field goal for Seattle, further extending their advantage.

Falcons gave the ball away three times in the second half, which led to 17 points for Seattle.

Atlanta will not have long to think about the loss. They travel to Tampa Bay on Thursday for a matchup with the NFC South division-leading Bucs.
