CASSELBERRY, Fla. – A 19-year-old man was shot and a 17-year-old was hurt on Sunday during an attempted sale of vape pens, according to Casselberry Police.

The incident unfolded around 8:20 p.m. in the vicinity of Howell Branch Road and Lake Ann Lane.

Authorities report that the victims arranged to meet the suspects to sell vape pens, but the encounter turned violent when the buyers opened fire on the victims’ car.

In a bid to escape, the victims sped away but ended up crashing their vehicle, while the attackers fled the scene, police stated.

“Our detectives have established that this was an isolated event involving individuals who likely know each other, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety,” the police department reassured.

The 19-year-old was shot in the chest/left arm and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The 17-year-old suffered minor injuries and was treated by the Seminole County Fire Department.

Anyone with information is asked to email Detective Carr at dcarr@casselberry.org.
