Ohio Man Mistakenly Sends Meth Through Bank Drive-Thru Tube, Police Report

An Ohio resident found himself in handcuffs after inadvertently sending a bag of crystal meth through a bank’s drive-thru pneumatic tube last week.

Jason G. Smith, aged 46, was apprehended on December 3 following a rapid investigation into the unusual “deposit” he made at a bank located in Woodsfield, Ohio, as detailed in a statement by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the authorities, Smith unwittingly included a “baggie containing a crystal-like substance resembling methamphetamine” in the tube during what was intended to be a routine bank transaction.

Unaware of his mistake, Smith left the scene, while a vigilant bank employee reported the peculiar discovery.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources soon located Smith in Wayne Township, approximately 200 miles away from Woodsfield, as mentioned in the press release.

A dutiful K9 dog named Max sniffed Smith’s truck and uncovered “suspected drugs and drug-related items,” the sheriff’s office said,

“Illegal drugs don’t belong in bank drive-thrus — but they can be turned in at the Sheriff’s Office. No charges, no handcuffs, just help. We’d much rather safely take them off the street than see another unexpected ‘deposit,’” Monroe County Sheriff Derek Norman wrote on Facebook.

Smith was booked in the Monroe County Jail, the sheriff said, but his charges haven’t been announced yet.

Online users struggled to wrap their heads around Smith’s supposed drug bungle.

“I bet he was mad as hell, deposited his check and his drugs. Lmfao can you imagine the frantic search that ensued when he was looking for them?” one person commented.

“I didn’t realize that you could be too stupid to do drugs!” another joked.

“This is your brain on drugs….” one added.
