It seems the mystery behind former Chargers star Quentin Jammer’s lack of interceptions in 2011 has finally been revealed.

On Monday night, the ex-cornerback took to social media platform X, candidly admitting that he played at least half of that season’s games while under the influence of alcohol.

“True story… In 2011, I played completely s–t faced drunk in at least 8 games,” Jammer openly shared.

The 46-year-old continued to engage with fans’ questions, offering more insight into this startling confession while also celebrating two years of sobriety.

Jammer attributed his drinking to the stress of his divorce, revealing a preference for tequila or “good” bourbon during that tumultuous period in his life.

Other tweets mentioned how he would have “2 tequila bottles in my bag,” and he added, “Man I drank whole game and all the way home.”

The ex-first-round pick said the Chargers knew about the personal situation unfolding in his life.

He wrote: “Trust me 100% of u all would’ve done the same.”

Jammer’s mention of his divorce aligns with prior reporting.

A Pro Football Talk post from 2012 recapped a San Diego Union-Tribune piece, in which Jammer told the outlet that his divorce had led to a dip in production and led him to drink too much.

“I would try to shake myself out of it, get the cobwebs out and just think,” Jammer told the paper, per Pro Football Talk. “But there were so many things to deal with, so much was going through my head. I couldn’t focus. I’ve always been a resilient guy. You get knocked down, you jump back up. But I never thought I’d come out the end of this … The only thing you can think of is the bad (stuff).”

Jammer added that “u could definitely tell” that he played while inebriated during the team’s 31-20 loss on Nov. 20, 2011.

The Pro Football Talk article mentioned him telling the Union Tribune about a blown coverage in that game and Jammer being “too mentally shot.”

Jammer’s openness led to quite the Q&A with fans on X, and he seemed to be surprised by some of the reactions to his stunning admission.

“Funny s–t abt this app. Ppl want u to engage and be real but as soon as u r here come the wanna be cool free thinkers to try and ruin my show!” he wrote. “F–k then (racial slurs). If I wanna tell yall parts of my life, I will. Don’t wanna hear. Block, mute, idgaf just get the F–k on somewhere.”

Jammer spent the first 11 years of his career with the Chargers after being drafted No. 5 overall in 2002, and finished his NFL run in 2013 with the Broncos.

He tallied 21 interceptions in 183 games.
