(NBC) — After nearly a year of rotating guest appearances, Jenna Bush Hager, the host of TODAY with Jenna & Friends, has announced the selection of her new permanent co-host.

On Tuesday morning, Hager shared the news that Sheinelle Jones will officially be joining the show as her full-time co-host starting January 12. The program will be rebranded as TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle.

Since Hoda Kotb’s departure from the fourth hour of TODAY in January 2025, more than 60 individuals have temporarily filled the co-host role alongside Hager, according to NBC.

As stated on the show’s website, TODAY executive vice president Libby Leist and Jenna & Friends executive producer Talia Parkinson-Jones expressed their enthusiasm about the decision in a message to the team.

“This signifies an exciting new era for the fourth hour,” Leist and Parkinson-Jones remarked. “Jenna and Sheinelle are two remarkable talents who have blossomed within the TODAY family. They are cherished for their sincerity, warmth, and genuine rapport with our TODAY viewers.”

Currently, Jones co-hosts the 3rd Hour of TODAY at 9 a.m. with Craig Melvin, Al Roker and Dylan Dryer.

In December 2024, Jones took time off from the show to be with her family after her husband, Uche Ojeh, was diagnosed with brain cancer. In May, Jones’s coworkers revealed on-air that Ojeh had died at 45 years old. Jones returned to Studio 1A in September.

“Sheinelle has been a cherished member of NBC News for more than 11 years,” Leist and Parkinson-Jones said. “From standout interviews with newsmakers and celebrities to her iconic Halloween performances as Beyoncé and Tina Turner, she has captivated audiences time and again.”
