JD Vance hits back after 'yelling at wife Usha in restaurant'

JD Vance recently dismissed a bizarre rumor suggesting he was seen arguing with his wife, Usha, at a restaurant.

The speculation began when a photo appeared on Facebook, capturing the vice president animatedly talking to his wife, who seemed to be focused on something on the table.

Thomas Clay Jr., a Facebook user, shared the image with the caption, “Looks like things are not so good in Republicanistan,” implying a discord between the couple.

Clay further claimed, “Usha is a liberal. Always has been. Apparently, they were having an argument loud enough to quiet the restaurant. Why is he wearing a tee shirt?”

In response to the controversial post, Vance took to X on Tuesday to address the situation.

‘I always wear an undershirt when I go out in public to have a fight loudly with my wife,’ he dead-panned.

It comes amid frenzied speculation about Vance’s marriage after his wife was spotted without her wedding ring on recent outings.

Nasty whispering about the Vance marriage first began in October, following a tight hug the VP gave to Charlie Kirk’s wife at a memorial event for her husband.

At that same event, Vance told the audience that he pleaded with Usha to convert from Hinduism to Catholicism – only fueling the rumors about their marriage.

Vance responded to the sensational claims last week in an interview where he poured cold water on the claims about his wife not wearing her ring – while admitting that family life was not always easy in the public spotlight.

The Daily Mail reported in November that Usha was first photographed without her ring during an event with First Lady Melania Trump. In early December, she was again spotted without the jewelry during a visit to Joint Base Andrews with Melania.

A spokesperson for Usha justified the absence of the ring at the time by claiming Usha ‘does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes.’

Vance dismissed the controversy during an interview with NBC News by claiming the couple find the speculation over the missing wedding ring humorous.

‘I think that we kind of get a kick out of it,’ Vance said last Thursday.

‘With anything in life, you take the good with the bad,’ he added. ‘You accept that there are some sacrifices and there are some very good things that come along with it, too. But our marriage is as strong as it’s ever been, and I think Usha’s really taken to it, and it’s been kind of cool to see how she’s developed and evolved in this new role.’

The vice president did note the media attention has been hard on the couple: ‘There are certainly ways in which it’s difficult on the family … I’m not going to pretend that it isn’t. But it’s the sacrifice that we signed up for.’

Vance also offered a new explanation for the absence of the ring during Usha’s recent appearance with the first lady.

The vice president explained he and his wife were rushing to depart to the White House so Usha could attend an event with Melania.

As the second lady entered the car she realized she had left her rings behind after taking a shower.

‘She was like, “Oh, if I don’t go back and get them, there’s going to be some ridiculous psycho who talks about it on social media,”‘ Vance said in the interview.

‘And I was like, “Let them. It’s not even worth the trip to run back upstairs.” So we actually have a little bit of fun with it. And we thought that whole viral social media cycle was kind of funny.’

Vance and Usha married in 2014 and share three children.

The vice president’s wife rarely grants interviews and typically avoids the media spotlight; however, Usha is now leading a program to promote childhood literacy.

‘I think that when you’re in love with somebody, you’re always sort of curious what they get attached to and what they get interested in,’ Vance said.

‘It’s been amazing to see her really lean into this child literacy thing. And I think it speaks very highly of her.’
