Biscuits sold throughout Australia are being urgently recalled due to the detection of unusually high levels of a dangerous biotoxin.

Leos Imports and Distributors have announced a recall alert for their Sapori Soft Amaretti Biscuits, packaged in 175g bags. These biscuits have been available in independent stores across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, the Australian Capital Territory, and Tasmania. They were also sold online in New South Wales and Victoria.

The affected products are marked with best before dates of May 2, 2026, and August 25, 2026.

According to the recall notice, these Italian-made treats contain alarmingly high levels of hydrocyanic acid, a naturally occurring compound that can be harmful if consumed in excessive amounts.

Consumers are advised to avoid eating these biscuits, as ingestion could potentially lead to illness.

Anyone who has purchased them should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Medical advice should be sought over health concerns.
