SAVANNAH, Ga. — Savannahians woke up to a brisk start on Tuesday, with morning temperatures dipping into the low to mid-30s. The chilly weather persisted throughout the day, with highs peaking only in the mid to upper 40s, a stark contrast to the usual warmth expected this time of year.

The forecast predicts another frigid night across the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry, with overnight temperatures plummeting to the upper 20s and lower 30s.

As the cold snap continues through Wednesday morning, it’s crucial to remember the “four P’s”: people, pets, plants, and pipes. Ensure you check on vulnerable family members, friends, and neighbors during this cold spell. Also, bring your pets indoors to keep them warm and safe.

With the very cold temperatures forecast tonight and into Wednesday morning, be sure to protect the “four P’s,” People, pets, plants and pipes.

Protect tender vegetation and protect exposed pluming.

Wednesday afternoon will become milder with a mainly sunny sky. Afternoon highs will warm into the upper 50s and lower 60s.

However, there will be a strong a gusty wind throughout the afternoon. The strong wind will make conditions feel colder at times.

Milder temperatures are in the forecast for the remainder of the week and into the weekend ahead of the next cold front. Temperatures for Thursday and Friday will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

Afternoon highs over the weekend will be able to warm into the upper 60s to lower 70s due to a warmer and more humid flow of air from the Gulf.

A few isolated showers are possible on Sunday as the cold front moves through the region.

Colder temperatures will return on Monday and Tuesday of next week on the backside of the cold front.

Low temperatures on Tuesday are forecast to again be below freezing for much of the region.
