President Donald Trump recently delivered an uplifting update about Andrew Wolfe, a member of the West Virginia National Guard, who was critically injured in a terrorist attack in Washington, D.C. This incident occurred just before the Thanksgiving holiday.
While addressing an audience in Pennsylvania on Tuesday night, President Trump took the opportunity to discuss the nation’s economy. During his speech, he paused to relay a heartfelt message he had received from Wolfe’s mother. She shared the latest on her son’s recovery after he was gravely injured by an Afghan national in an attack that tragically claimed the life of another guard member, Sarah Beckstrom.
President Trump expressed deep sympathy by acknowledging the bravery and sacrifice of the two National Guard members involved in the attack. “In D.C., we had a tragic incident, as you know, with the two incredible people…Sarah and Andrew. Sarah passed away,” he said, paying tribute to Beckstrom. “She’s looking at us from Heaven, from above. And Andrew’s the second one, who was also from the West Virginia National Guard. Incredible people.”
The President’s words served as both a somber reminder of the sacrifices made by those in the service and a message of hope and resilience. As Wolfe fights for his recovery, the nation remembers and honors the courage of these young heroes.
“Today, I got a call that he got up from bed… and boy, they’re so happy. It’s amazing.”

“In D.C., we had a tragic incident, as you know, with the two incredible people…Sarah and Andrew. Sarah passed away,” President Trump said. “She’s looking at us from Heaven, from above. And Andrew’s the second one, who was also from the West Virginia National Guard. Incredible people.”
“And his mother’s named Monica. And Monica’s the most positive person I’ve ever seen….And today, I got a call that he got up from bed. Do you believe that? He got up,” he added, as the crowd roared with cheers and applause.
“Now he didn’t speak. He’s not ready for that yet…but he got up and boy, they’re so happy,” Trump continued. “It’s amazing…Andrew stood up today, and people can’t even believe it, so… let’s hope it continues.
Trump also said Monica commented on the “level of love” and care her son had received at the hands of the staff and military members who have stopped in to check on him. Sarah’s parents said the same thing, too.

News of Andrew getting up out of bed is truly a miracle, given the last update we had, which was from West Virginia Republican Governor Patrick Morrisey, who shared eight days ago that Wolfe had responded to a nurse who asked him a question, but was still fighting for his life, as RedState reported.
We’ve received positive news about SSgt. Andrew Wolfe. He was able to give a “thumbs up” when prompted by the nurse, and wiggled his toes. We continue asking for prayers for his recovery. pic.twitter.com/2CxZFftFGj

“Andrew remains in serious condition,” Morrisey said during a recent press conference. “We did get some positive news that we were told that Andrew was asked if he could hear the nurse who asked the question to give a thumbs up, and he did respond. We were told that he also wiggled his toes. So we take that as a positive sign.”
At one point, Morrissey said the most important message he wanted to convey from Andrew’s parents was to keep those prayers coming; he needs them.

“I think that the West Virginia people are strong and they know that everything is being done right now to ensure that justice is served,” the governor continued. “But equally important, we have to do everything possible to send prayers and to console people who are going through just unspeakable times right now.”
