EVANS, Ga. — The Burn Foundation of America recently hosted its beloved annual event, “Shop With a Doc,” at the Evans Wal-Mart on Tuesday.

This heartwarming event is designed to bring joy to young burn patients during the holiday season.

Steve Chalker, the president and CEO of the Burn Foundation of America, explained, “Each year, we compile a list of pediatric patients treated at the burn center over the past 18 months. We send out invitations, and those who RSVP are given a $150 allowance to spend on anything they’d like.”

Chalker also highlighted the various festive activities available for the children.

“We have Santa on-site for photos, and local Chick-fil-A has generously donated meals. It’s a delightful experience,” he shared. “The kids can enjoy taking pictures, shopping, and indulging in Christmas cookies, which are always a hit.”

Chalker added, “I think this is just this event just brings joy in their heart and hopefully it enriches their lives. And they have a great experience coming out of something that maybe wasn’t so fun, you know, with whatever they were going through with their burn treatment.”
