Frank Cozzolino, a cherished figure on HGTV Canada, passed away on December 4 at the age of 56 due to complications after undergoing a second liver transplant. The heartbreaking news was shared by his co-star, Mike Holmes, through a heartfelt post on Instagram. Accompanied by two photos of the duo, Holmes expressed, “Losing my dear friend Frank Cozzolino is truly devastating. He made us better people. His influence will continue in every house he touched. Frank could walk into even the most challenging electrical issues, crack a joke in his unique way, and instantly brighten the atmosphere. That was his nature.”

Holmes added, “Frank wasn’t just skilled — he genuinely cared. He was passionate about doing things the right way. He cared deeply for his colleagues and every homeowner he assisted. Frank will always remain a cherished member of the Holmes family. Miss you, buddy.” Frank made his debut with Mike on the HGTV series Holmes on Homes, which premiered in 2003 and spanned 82 episodes.

Alongside his post, Mike shared an emotional video elaborating on Frank’s challenging final years, stating that his friend “went through hell.”

“He had undergone a liver transplant six years ago, but unfortunately, it failed. He had to endure another transplant,” Holmes explained. “It was touch and go.”

Holmes continued, “At one point, we feared he wouldn’t pull through, but he did. And then, suddenly, because of complications, he left us on December 4.”

Recalling their first meeeting which led to their almost three decade freindship and collaboration he said: “Frank showed up on my very first Holmes on Homes job 25+ years ago.

“We told him we didn’t have a lot of money to produce the show. That didn’t matter to him, he genuinely just wanted to help people.

“Frank has been working with me since then, helping homeowners and helping me,” he said.

In 2012 Frank was told by doctors he would not live more than another five years with his liver. He underwent his first transplant on August 24, 2017.

He later posted on Instagram to say: “I was given a second chance at life. I am forever thankful and blessed that Organ Donation exists.”
