A woman is fighting for life after a stolen ute collided with two cars whilst evading police in Sydney’s south-west.

At approximately 11 p.m. last night, a dramatic event unfolded in Liverpool when police officers observed a Ford Ranger speeding and disregarding a red light on Elizabeth Drive.

Upon investigation, authorities discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen from the Liverpool area on December 9.

Officers initially attempted to stop the ute, but the driver ignored their signals, prompting a pursuit. However, the chase was quickly called off due to safety concerns.

Despite halting the initial pursuit, police continued to keep a watchful eye on the vehicle and later resumed the chase just before it was involved in an accident.

According to reports, the ute ran another red light, leading to a collision with a BMW sedan and a Toyota Yaris hatchback at the busy intersection of the Hume Highway and Moore Street.

The passenger of the BMW, a 21-year-old woman, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the BMW, also a 21-year-old female, and another female passenger in the car were also treated at the scene and taken to Liverpool hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Toyota was checked at the scene as a precaution and has been released.

A critical incident has been declared, with an independent review to be conducted into the circumstances regarding the police chase.
