Opera Singer Stabbed to Death in Home—Son Arrested at Scene

Tragedy struck a Southern California community as renowned opera singer Jubilant Sykes, 71, was found dead in his home, the victim of a stabbing. Authorities have taken his son into custody on suspicion of committing the crime.

On December 8, officers from the Santa Monica Police Department responded to an emergency call reporting an “assault in progress.” Upon arrival, they discovered Jubilant suffering from severe injuries indicative of a stabbing. Despite efforts by the Santa Monica Fire Department, he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an official statement from the police.

Inside the residence, police found the suspect, Micah Sykes, who is one of Jubilant’s sons. Micah was apprehended without resistance and taken into custody.
