Authorities continue to investigate the tragic accident that claimed the life of an actress in New York City.

WASHINGTON — An actress known for her role in “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” tragically lost her life after being hit by a vehicle in Midtown Manhattan earlier this week, according to information from the New York Police Department shared with multiple outlets.

Wenne Alton Davis was struck just before 9 p.m. on Monday evening while she was crossing Broadway near West 53rd Street. Police reported that an SUV, which was traveling west on West 53rd Street, made a left turn onto Broadway and collided with the 60-year-old. She was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene, and as of now, no charges have been filed.

Representatives for Davis confirmed her passing to CBS News, noting that she had been returning home to Queens after dining with friends when the incident occurred.

Born Oct. 18, 1965, in Durham, North Carolina, Davis lived in Forest Hills, Queens, and pursued acting in New York after moving to the city in her late 20s, her agent, Jamie Harris of Clear Talent Group told The New York Times. She initially worked in stand-up comedy before transitioning into television acting. Alongside her acting career, she also worked in security at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

“She had a huge love for New York, for acting, for her colleagues at J.F.K. and, most of all, her family and her circle of friends (which was also huge),” Harris said in a statement.

Davis appeared as a police officer in a 2023 episode of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” Her television credits also include roles on “Blindspot,” “New Amsterdam,” “Girls5eva,” “Rescue Me” and “The Normal Heart,” according to her IMDB profile.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
