DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A major company is set to move out of Danville and across state lines soon.

Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc. (HYMH) announced on Wednesday that it will be leaving Danville to go to a “larger, modern facility” in Avon, Indiana.

The company said the new facility will allow them to streamline shipping and packaging and reduce supply chain complexity. Hyster-Yale added that the Danville facility no longer aligns with the “scale and complexity” required for the company’s changing needs.

Danville’s location is scheduled to close by the end of the year and the transition is expected to be finished by next fall.

In a statement sent to WCIA, Vermilion Advantage’s Interim CEO Tracy Wahlfeldt said the situation is heartbreaking for the impacted employees. Wahlfeldt added that a lot of people worked hard to make sure Hyster-Yale stayed in Danville — and that a lot of money went into it too.

“We will do everything we can to help these affected employees,” Wahlfeldt said.

WCIA reached out to Hyster-Yale for more information but did not immediately hear back.
