RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. – Six eighth-grade students from the Richmond County School System (RCSS) have been honored as the 2025-2026 REACH Scholars, a prestigious recognition that underscores their academic potential and dedication.

RCSS officials proudly announced the selection of these students, who will each be awarded a scholarship worth at least $10,000. This financial aid can be applied towards tuition at any University System of Georgia institution, a Technical College System of Georgia institution, or an approved private postsecondary school within the state. Additionally, these scholars will benefit from continuous academic support throughout their high school years.

  • Richmond County Technical Career Magnet School: Khyli Fane and Adrianna Simmons
  • W.S. Hornsby Middle School: Khiyoni Brame and Jonashia Williams

“We are immensely proud of our new REACH Scholars for their unwavering dedication to their studies,” said Dr. Malinda Cobb, superintendent of schools. “This scholarship marks an important milestone in their educational journey, supported by a community that believes in their limitless potential.”

The selection process for these scholarships was rigorous, involving a competitive application and interview stage open to rising eighth-graders from eligible RCSS schools. Candidates were required to demonstrate financial need, maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA in core subjects, and exhibit strong attendance and behavior.

The REACH Georgia program is designed to enhance access to higher education by coupling financial assistance with mentorship and consistent academic support. Funded by contributions from local partners, the initiative showcases a community-driven commitment to paving a clear and attainable path to college and long-term success for RCSS students.
