UNICOI, Tenn. (WJHL) — State Representative Renea Jones has officially declared her candidacy for re-election, aiming for a second term in Tennessee House District 4. Jones, who previously ran Jones & Church Farms in Unicoi, first won her seat in 2024. She successfully secured her position by defeating former Elizabethton mayor Curt Alexander in the Republican primary, stepping into a role long held by five-term incumbent John Holsclaw.

Jones articulated her motivation for seeking re-election, citing her commitment to rural community support, economic strengthening, and aiding families still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Helene. “Serving the people of Carter and Unicoi is the greatest honor of my life,” she expressed. “In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, our communities showed extraordinary resilience and compassion. Working alongside our local leaders to secure emergency resources, assist families, and support long-term recovery has only deepened my commitment to this district. I’m seeking re-election so I can continue advocating for our region and ensuring that every community has what it needs to rebuild stronger than before.”

To mark the beginning of her campaign, Jones has planned a kickoff reception featuring Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs on December 18. This event will set the stage for her re-election efforts, as she continues to champion the needs and aspirations of her community.

“Serving the people of Carter and Unicoi is the greatest honor of my life,” Jones said. “In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, our communities showed extraordinary resilience and compassion. Working alongside our local leaders to secure emergency resources, assist families, and support long-term recovery has only deepened my commitment to this district.
