Federal authorities have issued a recall for ground cinnamon distributed across 14 states due to the risk of lead contamination. This announcement came on Tuesday, alerting consumers to the potential health hazard.

TBC Distribution Corporate, based in Brooklyn, New York, initiated the recall following a report from the New York Department of Agriculture and Markets which revealed high lead levels in its cinnamon powder sold under the Lucky Foods brand.

The affected cinnamon is identified by a best-before date of September 15, 2027, and is sold in a 40g pouch with a vacuum or modified atmosphere seal. The packaging features a brown label prominently displaying the Lucky Foods brand at the top. This information is detailed in a recall notice from TBC, also available on the FDA’s website.
