The future of Dragon Ball Super has been uncertain for quite some time, but recent developments suggest a thrilling revival may be underway. The speculation began with the anticipation of two significant Dragon Ball anime announcements slated for January during the Genkidamatsuri event. Adding to the excitement, rumors have been swirling about a potential new Dragon Ball Super movie.
Further intensifying the buzz, a recent leak has emerged online, captivating fans worldwide. This leak features artwork by Toyotarou, the esteemed mangaka behind the Dragon Ball Super manga and a mentee of the legendary Akira Toriyama. The artwork offers an intriguing glimpse into what fans can expect from Dragon Ball Super in the upcoming year.
Shared widely on social media by well-known figures in the Dragon Ball community, the leak centers around an image of the V-Jump February 2026 cover. Though we cannot share the image directly due to ethical considerations, it depicts Ultra Instinct Goku alongside Gohan Beast, rendered in Toyotarou’s distinctively realistic art style. This revelation has only heightened anticipation for what lies ahead in the Dragon Ball universe.
New V-Jump Cover Leak Follows an Ongoing Theme For Dragon Ball Super’s Toyotarou
The new leak, posted on X by various prominent leakers in the DB community, is an image of the V-Jump February 2026 cover (we can’t include the image for ethical reasons). The cover art shows Ultra Instinct Goku standing side-by-side with Gohan Beast, in Toyotarou’s characteristic life-like art style.
The new Toyotarou art is meant to coincide with the release of a new Ultra Instinct Goku and Gohan Beast Father-Son Kamehameha statue created in celebration of Dragon Ball Super’s 10-year anniversary. Toyotarou also drew his own version of this figure in an art piece celebrating the 10th anniversary back in June. Indeed, Toyotarou has been drawing this dynamic father-son duo quite a bit in the downtime since the manga went on hiatus.
Toyotarou was also handing out a signed drawing of UI Goku and Gohan Beast in a similar pose as that of the leak during a meet-and-greet to promote the Dragon Ball Super Divers video game in Japan. It seems Toyotarou has had Goku and Gohan on the brain a lot lately, which makes a lot of sense considering where the manga last left off.
In the finale to the Super Hero Saga, Goku challenged Gohan to a sparring match on Beerus’ planet in order to test out his son’s newly achieved transformation. Gohan Beast was so powerful that it forced Goku to power up to Ultra Instinct, and Goku still found himself with his back to the ropes. Gohan may very well be the strongest Z Fighter at this point, raising exciting implications for what’s to come in the manga’s highly anticipated Black Frieza Saga and beyond.
Dragon Ball Super’s New Leak Suggests There’s More To Come From The Series
Toyotarou’s involvement with Dragon Ball’s future has at times been questionable in recent months. His work on a new original one-shot manga unreleased to Dragon Ball raised eyebrows among fans, and things only became more concerning when Toyotarou revealed new art for the Gundam franchise soon after. Thankfully, Toyotarou did return to drawing more Dragon Ball-related art in late October, with an image of Ox-King.
Considering the timing of this new V-Jump cover, it seems that it could very well be meant to coincide with the highly anticipated announcements to come in January. The 10-year anniversary of Dragon Ball Super certainly deserves some attention, though there are still no official announcements about what’s to come. If nothing else, this piece of Goku and Gohan art is the first Dragon Ball Super artwork Toyotarou has composed in months, so it’s definitely a great sign.
It shows that Toyotarou is still the go-to artist for DBS, presuming the manga ever does return. Considering the upcoming anime anncouncements to come in January, this DBS V-Jump cover dropping at the same time will certainly only further feed into the rumors surrounding a Dragon Ball Super movie.
Interestingly, longtime Dragon Ball editor Torishima recently commented on a podcast, “With how bad things are, we can’t expect much from next year’s Dragon Ball movie either, don’t you think?” While he seemed to be referring to rumors, and not an actual movie, the hype has been so intense around the potential for a Dragon Ball Super movie that this single quote took in a life of its own in the Dragon Ball fandom. If nothing else, it shows how prominent the rumors of this movie are, that it has even reached the ears of an iconic creative involved in the Dragon Ball franchise.
There are still no official announcements, so this new Dragon Ball Super art leak is the only real confirmation that DBS and Toyotarou are here to stay. Being that the upcoming Moro and Granolah Sagas are the two arcs Toyotarou put the most of his personal effort into writing the story for, the return of the Dragon Ball Super anime will be a huge moment for him if it does happen.
