NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. () – A cherished holiday event has once again made its way back to North Augusta.
For more than a quarter of a century, the Return to Bethlehem event has magically transformed Grace United Methodist Church into a vibrant village, bustling with merchants, musicians, and over 100 actors in period costumes. The church describes the event as an immersive journey, inviting visitors to step back in time and witness the nativity story come to life.
“This is our offering to the community, Grace Church’s heartfelt gift,” remarked Ken McDowell, a member of Grace United Methodist Church. “We’ve been presenting this for over two decades. We have a drive-through segment from 6 to 6:30, followed by a walkthrough that runs until around 8:30. My hope is that people leave with a deeper appreciation for the story of Jesus’ birth. As wise men, we narrate a summary of the story, leading them to the manger. It’s our aim to inspire awe, spark wonder, and spread joy.”
The final opportunity to experience this tour is Saturday, Dec. 13. While entry is free, the church mentions that donations are appreciated to sustain this beloved community tradition.
