In a recorded message to students, university officials indicated that the active shooter was believed to be near the Barus and Holley engineering building.
Students received a text alert advising them to “lock doors, silence phones, and remain hidden until further instructions are provided.”
The alert emphasized, “If you are in the immediate area, evacuate safely if possible; if not, find a secure hiding spot. As a last resort, be prepared to defend yourself. Stay alert for additional safety updates.”
