WASHINGTON — Tragedy struck on Saturday as police responded to an active shooter situation at Brown University, resulting in at least two deaths and multiple injuries.
This Ivy League university is situated in Providence, Rhode Island, located more than 50 miles southwest of Boston.

The incident occurred near the Barus & Holley building, a prominent seven-story facility that houses both the School of Engineering and the Physics Department, according to Brown’s website. This comprehensive building includes 117 laboratories, 150 offices, 15 classrooms, and 29 additional labs.
According to a campus map, the Barus & Holley building is positioned along the outer perimeter of the campus.
