Meanwhile, some areas of Chittering and Moondyne have been placed under a Watch and Act alert, having been downgraded from an emergency level following improvements in conditions overnight.

In Perth’s central business district, other fires are burning, though they currently pose no threat to residential areas.

Yesterday, a bushfire was successfully contained just six kilometers north of the CBD at Herdsman Lake. However, a Watch and Act warning remains in effect for Osborne Park, located in the city’s northwest.

There is a threat of thunderstorms with high winds, potentially exacerbating fires already burning.

A total fire ban has been declared for large parts of the state just outside of Perth.
