Anush Movsesian, a renowned celebrity injector, is shedding light on Hollywood’s latest aesthetic trends and insists that despite the growing trend of filler removal, cosmetic treatments remain as popular as ever.

With over a decade of experience in the aesthetics industry, the 41-year-old Movsesian caters to a range of celebrity clients, addressing desires that span from subtle enhancements to comprehensive transformations.

“The needs and preferences really vary among actors, actresses, and celebrities,” Movsesian shared in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly. “Terms like ‘pillow face’ and ‘filler fatigue’ are becoming more common, largely due to social media. Surgeons now have platforms where they can advise against overdoing procedures, warning that excessive treatments could complicate future facelifts.”

Movsesian runs Routine by Anush Movsesian, a Los Angeles-based aesthetic practice revered for its precise and timeless enhancements. Her commitment to delivering classic beauty solutions has garnered her a loyal clientele, including celebrities and everyday individuals alike. Routine offers a luxury experience aimed at achieving youthful, radiant skin through a wide array of services.

While some doctors are advising patients to take it easy on the cosmetic procedures, Movsesian isn’t sure everyone is heeding those warnings.

“We have all this information, [but] we don’t know what to do with it,” she explained. “Everyone’s just using these terms, but in all reality, I think that everyone is still doing it.”

Movsesian also doesn’t think celebrities can always kickstart trends on their own.

“We saw Kylie Jenner go from her ‘pillow face’ to talking about removing a lot of the filler. But I don’t think it necessarily means just because Kylie did it, now it’s a trend and everyone’s doing it,” she continued. “I still have a lot of patients, a lot that still want a lot done, and [I] have to turn people away on a daily basis. So, I think we have a lot of everything. We have a lot of natural patients, and we have a lot of patients that want a lot more.”

Movsesian told Us that she noticed a shift to people becoming more fixated on their skin during the coronavirus pandemic.

“I think that when we got locked in indoors, we just stared at the mirror all day, and we had access to purchasing things online, and everyone was so skincare-crazy,” Movsesian said. “I no longer like to call it a trend. I think that women are more into taking care of their skin health, and so therefore, once the doors opened and it was no longer just staying indoors and learning how to cleanse and apply retinol, now we’re doing a lot of skincare treatments.”

Movsesian told Us that if there is a single treatment she would recommend to patients, it would easily be microneedling.

“No matter how much technology improves, microneedling will always be one of the No. 1 skin treatments for me,” Movsesian said. “It is honestly a game-changer. Whether you do it with your own PRP (platelet-rich plasma), whether you do it with exosomes or PDGF (platelet-derived growth factor), or just hyaluronic acid, it’ll always be the old school, one of the best treatments, and I recommend it to everybody.”

With the rise in usage of GLP-1s, observers have used the term “Ozempic face” to describe the look that results after people lose significant weight in their face. While Movsesian admits that she’s not an “expert” on GLP-1s, she has seen many patients that are experiencing this, and they often have two major concerns.

“Their faces have gone down, and their butts have gone down,” Movsesian told Us. “The No. 1 thing I turn to is Sculptra. You don’t want to fill the face with jelly. You want to replenish volume in a more natural way. And I’m going to go with Sculptra because it’s a bio stimulator. … So, whether it’s your face or your booty, I’m going to say Sculptra is probably the best way to replenish volume and collagen in your face.”

To Dr. Ellie Byun, an L.A.-based licensed acupuncturist of 17 years, beauty comes from within. “I’ve helped patients heal from the inside out using acupuncture, cupping and customized herbal medicine,” says Byun, whose impressive clientele includes Miranda Kerr, Brooks Nader, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Elsa Hosk and more, in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly. Movsesian blames social media for influencing more people to want to get work done, especially at a younger age.

“We’re seeing more things and we’re more educated on it, whether it’s real information or just information thrown out there. The younger generation has more knowledge, and they have more resources to look into it. And I don’t know if that’s a good thing, but they’re looking at things and lifting things, and it looks better to them,” Movsesian told Us. “Being in the field for so long — and I’ve had over 8,000 patients — you more or less learn people’s different personality traits, but you can automatically tell when the problem really isn’t on the outside, it’s on the inside. It’s my job to say, ‘No.’ I can’t just bank off that the patient’s bothered by something and just do it when it’s really not the right thing to do.”

Regarding celebrities that have mastered the art of “subtle beauty,” Movsesian said she thinks Lindsay Lohan, Hilary Duff and Jennifer Lopez haven’t overdone it.

“I think Lindsay Lohan looks phenomenal. She’s definitely doing it right. Her glow-up was so extreme and great,” Movsesian said. “I think Hilary Duff looks phenomenal … I saw J. Lo at Cipriani a few weeks ago, and I was stunned at how amazing she looked.”

Movsesian noted that “everything still moves” in Lopez’s face, which is ideal.

“She’s 56 years old, things are still in [motion]. You see fine lines and wrinkles. Nothing is over done,” Movsesian said. “And I very, very much appreciate that. And she’s fit. She looks phenomenal … I don’t like an overdone look. I don’t look like that myself. I haven’t had fillers in two and a half years. I do my Botox, I do my skincare treatments. I’m not against any of it, but I am against over-filling and doing too much, and so I think aging gracefully should still be a thing. And I always tell my patients that they need to accept certain lines and fine lines and wrinkles and never overdo anything.”
