In Savannah, Georgia, brace yourself for a bone-chilling night as temperatures are set to plunge into the upper teens and lower 20s, with the wind making it feel like a frigid 10°F. An intense Arctic cold front has swept through the region, bringing strong northwesterly winds that usher in this icy air mass.

Starting tonight and extending through Monday morning, a Cold Weather Advisory is in place, warning of wind chills dipping below 20°F. This advisory serves as a crucial reminder to safeguard people, plants, pets, and pipes, as the area braces for a hard freeze. Areas such as Appling, Bacon, Jeff Davis, and Wayne County are under a Freeze Warning, given that their growing season wasn’t officially concluded prior to this icy event.

The weather conditions have prompted a Weather Aware Day for Sunday through Tuesday, highlighting the imminent threat posed by the dangerously cold temperatures. As Monday dawns, the mercury will struggle to climb into the 40s, with lingering winds adding an extra bite to the already frigid air. It’s essential to dress warmly if venturing outside.

Although winds are expected to ease by Monday evening, the cold persists, with another hard freeze anticipated across most areas, sparing only the immediate coast. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and take all necessary precautions to stay warm and safe during this cold snap.

Monday itself will be quite cold, with temperatures struggling to warm into the 40s. Winds will add an extra bite to the air, so be sure to bundle up when you head out. While winds back off by sundown Monday, it will still be quite cold again with a hard freeze expected for most of the area, minus the immediate coast.

Tuesday will feature milder temperatures with highs in the 50s. Wednesday morning will bring a freeze to most communities west of I-95, but temperatures rebound into the 60s by the afternoon. More clouds begin to stream in as moisture recovers midweek.

The end of the workweek will bring a stretch of mild temperatures, with highs back in the 70s for some on Thursday. A storm system and trailing cold front will bring rain chances Thursday into Friday, and a modest cooldown into the weekend.
