Actor Harry Hamlin, known for his role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, recently shared a surprising story about his time in jail, which involved being compelled to smoke PCP. This intriguing revelation emerged during the December 4 episode of the podcast Let’s Not Talk About the Husbands, co-hosted with his wife, Lisa Rinna.

The conversation took an unexpected turn when ketamine was brought up, prompting Hamlin to compare it to PCP, a substance he encountered under unusual circumstances. “I’ve never tried ketamine, but during my time in jail, I was forced to smoke PCP,” he revealed. Understandably, Lisa Rinna was taken aback by his candid confession and pressed for details.
Hamlin explained that his brush with the law occurred after he was caught transporting around 25 pills, which were later identified as speed, along with a small quantity of marijuana, which he referred to as “grass.” This marijuana served as payment for his pill delivery task. The incident happened during his college years at Berkeley, coinciding with exam season.
He recounted the story, saying, “It was exam time at Berkeley, and an upperclassman from my fraternity approached me before I left for Thanksgiving in Los Angeles. He asked me to deliver these pills to another fraternity house at USC.” This seemingly innocuous request led Hamlin into a situation he likely never anticipated, culminating in a jail experience that left an indelible mark on his life.
According to Harry, “It was exam season, and I was at Berkley. And my upperclassmen in the fraternity house I was living in came to me before I was going down to L.A. for Thanksgiving, which is around exam time. And he said, ‘Take these pills down to another house at USC.”
He went on, “They need these for their exams’ So I take them down, and they didn’t want the pills. So I had to take it back.” After the fraternity brothers rejected the pills, Harry then traveled with them and marijuana by airplane and ended up getting arrested. He was then sentenced to 18 days in a county jail, which he served on the weekends.
Regarding the PCP, he then shared that one of his fellow inmates insisted he try a “joint.” After trying it, he learned that it was tobacco that had been soaked in PCP instead of being marijuana.
Harry recalled, “He said, ‘Have some of this.’ So that’s how I was forced to have the PCP because what it was, was somebody had brought in a little sack of tobacco, of rolling tobacco, and they had soaked it in PCP.”
The former RHOBH star asked for specifics, and he replied, “It was just tobacco soaked in PCP. So they were smoking it, so there was no odor, but they were high as kites.”
Harry concluded, “I was so stoned, because the guy forced me to take three or four hits of it, right? And I was completely messed up after I had that. So that’s my PCP story, and I can’t imagine if ketamine is anything like PCP, why anybody would use it to get better?”
