Trump's classless Rob Reiner rant: Letters

The Controversy: President Trump Labels Late Actor-Director Rob Reiner as “Deranged”

I stand by President Trump’s assertive and impactful policies.

As someone who believes in his leadership, I typically find myself coming to his defense (“Don’s bizarre rant blaming the atrocity on politics,” Dec. 16).

However, this time, there’s no justification for his actions; Trump’s comments about Rob Reiner were, at best, lacking in sensitivity.

Regardless of any past disagreements with Reiner, it was inappropriate to disparage him mere hours after the tragic murder of both him and his wife.

Reports indicate MAGA is cracking apart as it watches their leader unravel emotionally like he did this week when attacking Reiner not even a day after the film director was murdered.

A stable leader would have offered a few kind sentiments and maybe pointed out that the apparent killer had a history of narcotic use.

Trump’s slander of the dead entertainment icon is just another manifestation of his need to include his name in every controversy or piece of breaking news.

Has he finally crossed the bridge of no return?

Republicans must decide soon.

President Trump’s tweet regarding the homicide of Rob Reiner and his wife makes the phrase “in bad taste” an appropriate response.

I write this as a person who voted for him, although I cringed at his long history of inappropriate remarks.

He is apparently unrestrained by anyone in his circle of advisers.

His mouth will be his Achilles’ heel and part of his legacy, no matter how much he accomplishes.

Irrespective of one’s politics, if we as Americans don’t recognize the pathology of Trump’s attack on Reiner, then there is no turning back from the nadir to which we have fallen as a nation.

The president likes to speak derisively about Trump Derangement Syndrome, blaming it for the nation’s ills — even while, in the same breath, he proves to us why so many people suffer from TDS.

He cannot show a modicum of statesmanship while attacking the deceased.

He is as psychotic as he is classless.

This is not the first time Trump has ascribed motives to high-profile killings with no evidence.

After conservative activist Charlie Kirk was killed, Trump said it was “the tragic consequence of demonizing those with whom you disagree” — even when he is guilty of doing exactly that.

Trump has a long history of hitting his critics with low blows, but this might be rock bottom.

There is no reason to believe these killings had anything to do with him.

Police have arrested Nick Reiner, the son of Rob and Michele, and are treating him as the suspect.

Trump should take his own advice and stop turning deaths into political sideshows.

As a Trump supporter who’s volunteered in his campaign, I’m really upset about his comments on Truth Social regarding the murder of Reiner and his wife.

The president should just send empathy to people suffering.

However, the left has a lot of nerve criticizing the president after repeatedly suggesting we kick Erika Kirk to the curb.

My solution is to grow up and treat all humans with dignity and empathy.

Could Trump not show some restraint of his ugliness about the murder of Reiner just for one day, especially during this time of year?

He is who some choose to support?

Show some humanity.

This is beyond politics.

Shame on all of you who embrace this horrible man.

What ever happened to the social convention of either speaking well of those who have passed or saying nothing?

There are diverse opinions about President Trump, although not amongst his sycophantic Cabinet.

It’ll be interesting to see how history and his obituaries portray him one day.

Also, just a reminder: Be the best you can and look for the best in everyone else.
