A disturbing incident unfolded in Biloxi, Mississippi, where a woman allegedly inserted razor blades into loaves of bread at two local Walmart stores. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Camille Benson from Texas, was taken into custody on Tuesday and now faces charges of attempted mayhem. Authorities have set her bond at $100,000.

The unsettling discovery was first brought to light when vigilant customers at a Walmart Supercenter and a Walmart Neighborhood Market reported finding razor blades nestled within their bread purchases. According to Lt. Candace Young, a spokesperson for the Biloxi Police Department, these alarming reports prompted an immediate investigation.

The initial complaint emerged on December 5 when a customer at the Walmart Supercenter noticed the dangerous addition to their loaf. Just three days later, another customer at the Walmart Neighborhood Market experienced a similar shock, finding a razor blade in their bread as well.

A subsequent complaint on Sunday led Walmart employees to thoroughly inspect their stock. This diligent examination revealed that several more loaves had been compromised, confirming the unsettling pattern of tampering.

The swift response by customers and Walmart staff, combined with effective police action, has helped to prevent further harm, underscoring the importance of community vigilance and prompt reporting in such troubling situations.

The police department was notified on Monday.

In a press release, the department asked all citizens who bought bread from those Walmart locations to inspect the loaves and report any findings.

“The health and safety of our customers is always a top priority,” Walmart said in a statement. “We have removed and thoroughly inspected all potentially affected products at impacted stores in Biloxi. We appreciate law enforcement for their swift action and will continue cooperating with them as they investigate.”

The Biloxi Police Department said it does not believe any other stores have been targeted.

If customers purchase a product that has been tampered with, they should immediately throw it out and visit their local Walmart for a full refund, the company said.
