CAIR files federal lawsuit against DeSantis over terrorism claims

In a significant legal development, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has launched a federal lawsuit against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. This move follows an executive order issued by the governor, which alleges that CAIR was established to obscure connections to extremist Islamic groups. The order further labels CAIR as an unindicted co-conspirator in a 2009 federal case where the Holyland Foundation, a Muslim charity, was found guilty of directing substantial funds to Hamas.

CAIR-Florida’s acting executive director, Hiba Rahim, has been vocal in denouncing the executive order. “This executive order does not present facts, it does not cite investigations, it does not point to any criminal findings,” Rahim stated, emphasizing the group’s stance against the claims made by the governor.
