AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. – The North Augusta community gathered on Tuesday to celebrate the start of significant renovations at a local educational institution.

Aiken County Public Schools hosted a groundbreaking event for North Augusta Middle School on December 16. The ceremony was attended by community leaders, faculty members, and alumni, marking a momentous occasion for the area.

Many staff members expressed their enthusiasm about the forthcoming upgrades.

“We’re thrilled; this is something we’ve anticipated for a long time,” said Principal Terra Vanderlinden. “As a former student of this school, it’s a true honor to see it finally receive a much-needed transformation.”

Teacher Elizabeth Harley highlighted the benefits of the updates, noting, “Modern spaces will make a big difference. Many older rooms lack sufficient electrical outlets and rely on noisy window units for heating and cooling. A bright, modern facility will greatly enhance the learning environment.”

The long-awaited project was made possible by the approval of the one cent sales tax.
