Tia Mowry is clearing up any misconceptions about her bond with her twin sister, Tamera Mowry.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Tia, 47, addressed rumors of a supposed rift between the sisters. In a clip shared on Instagram on Tuesday, December 16, she stated, “There’s this perception that there was a great divide between us, but that’s simply not true. People got used to seeing us together all the time, but as we grow older, we each have our own lives and families. Sure, there’s some physical distance because of our individual paths, but when something is truly important, you make time for it.”

Tia went on to share that she and Tamera, also 47, have committed to checking in with one another every Sunday as part of a weekly routine.

“What’s important is that we prioritize time for each other,” she explained.

Everything Tia and Tamara Mowry Have Said About Their Twin Bond Through the Years

The talented twins, Tia and Tamera Mowry-Housley, have navigated their acting careers closely intertwined. The duo first captured audiences playing long-lost twins reunited on the hit show “Sister, Sister” from 1994 to 1999. Over the years, they have collaborated on several projects, including Disney Channel’s “Seventeen Again” with their brother Tahj Mowry, the “Twitches” series, and a Lifetime film titled “Double Wedding.”

The Very Vintage Christmas star also revealed what she admires most about her twin, noting that Tamera is “a great mother” to son Aden, 13, and daughter Ariah, 10, whom she shares with husband Adam Housley. (Tia is a mom herself, sharing son Cree, 14, and daughter Cairo, 7, with ex-husband Cory Hardrict.)

“It’s not easy having ambitions and doing what you love to do, and trying to juggle all of that at the same time,” Tia told the outlet. “You know, she’s doing her best to be present for her kids, and she’s doing a great job. I have incredible nieces and nephews. So, yeah, I would say she’s an incredible mother. I’m inspired by that.”

Tia and Tamera grew up in the spotlight together, first gaining recognition on the ABC/WB sitcom Sister, Sister. The sisters went on to star together in the films Seventeen Again (2000), Twitches (2005) and its sequel, Twitches Too (2007). Additionally, Tia and Tamera were featured in their own eponymous reality series from 2011 to 2013.

Tia and Tamera maintained a close relationship through the years, even serving as each other’s maids of honor. However, Tia alarmed fans in September 2024 when she stated in the trailer for her WeTV docuseries, Tia Mowry: My Next Act, that she wished she and her sister “were still close.”

“[I wish] I could pick up the phone and call her, but that’s just not where we are right now,” she said at the time.

Tia later clarified exclusively to Us Weekly that she was referring to the physical distance between her and Tamera and how it affected their bond.

“You could hear it from me, and this is basically what I was insinuating: I feel like as we grow up, we all start our own families and their children need to lean on them. We begin to take on new roles and responsibilities within our lives,” she explained. “That is what that was all about.”

Tia and Tamera Mowry

Twin sisters Tia and Tamera Mowry are ringing in their shared birthday by celebrating each other. On Sunday, July 6, Tia shared three photos featuring herself, her sister and their brothers Tajh and Tavior via Instagram. “And just like that we are 47,” she wrote. Tamera also noted the big day on social media via […]

The Mistle-Tones star added that while some of her relatives — including brother Tahj Mowry and father Timothy Mowry — live in Los Angeles, Tamera and her family live in Napa. (Their other brother, Tavior Mowry, lives in Tennessee.)

“In these transitions in life, sometimes you just want a hug and you just want someone to be as accessible as they used to be, and that is not the case,” Tia, who finalized her divorce from Hardrict, 46, in 2023, concluded. “It’s called life.”
