The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after a shooting incident on Wednesday night.
In Jacksonville, Florida, authorities reported that the incident occurred at a residence near Moncrief Road. The victim was allegedly shot by his girlfriend’s son, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
JSO Sergeant Richardson provided details, stating that officers were dispatched to the 5700 block of Carver Circle following reports of the shooting around 10 p.m.
Sergeant Richardson explained that the incident was preceded by a “verbal altercation” between the victim and his girlfriend. Subsequently, the woman’s son confronted the man over the dispute and fired multiple shots, hitting him twice in the chest.
Despite the severity of the situation, the injuries sustained by the victim are reported to be non-life-threatening, Richardson confirmed.
This is an isolated incident and the suspect has been identified, Richardson said.
