TOPEKA (KSNT) – Federal health authorities have broadened a recall affecting nasal sprays, following an announcement last week.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a statement on Tuesday indicating that MediNatura New Mexico, Inc. is recalling all batches of its ReBoost Nasal Spray and ClearLife Nasal Spray. These homeopathic products were available both online and in physical stores nationwide.

Initially, a single batch of ReBoost Nasal Spray was withdrawn from the market after it tested positive for “yeast/mold and microbial contamination.” Specifically, the levels of Achromobacter in the spray exceeded acceptable limits. This bacterium is known for causing infections that are challenging to treat due to its resistance to several antibiotics.

The expanded recall of ReBoost Nasal Spray was announced on Tuesday due to the same concerns. Meanwhile, ClearLife Nasal Spray is being recalled because additional investigations revealed microbial contamination potentially associated with Achromobacter.
